Role Overview

The Services Architect - CIAM is a technical authority on both cloud and on-premises based IT systems, responsible for ensuring the successful design and implementation of an industry-leading cloud identity platform. This role focuses on Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) offerings targeted at B2C and B2B use cases. You will develop relationships with customers to help them achieve business goals, translating needs into actionable strategies and driving initiatives to high-value results. As a key member of the Professional Services (PS) team, you will provide technical leadership throughout the customer implementation lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Review and lead the gathering of business, functional, and technical requirements for establishing an identity platform.
  • Work with customers to document common technical and functional requirements for specific solutions.
  • Support the creation of project plans to develop and implement proposed solutions.
  • Participate as a member of the professional services delivery team to translate requirements into designs and provide technical leadership and oversight.
  • Assist in periodic customer health checks and project reviews.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of overall IT and software development experience, including solution design and technical architecture.
  • 3+ years of consulting experience.
  • 3+ years driving application architecture design.
  • 3+ years of experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) architectures.
  • 3+ years of experience implementing cloud computing solutions such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Salesforce.
  • Experience with customer identity use cases for B2C and B2B: user registration, multi-factor authentication, SSO, delegated administration, and social identities.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with CxOs and high-level customer executives.
  • Experience leading discovery workshops to derive customer requirements, specifications, and business processes.
  • Strong knowledge of Security Architecture, Design and Operations, LDAP, Active Directory, SAML, SSO, RBAC, OAuth, OIDC, and web protocols (XML, SOAP, JSON, REST).
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: Java, .Net, JavaScript, Angular, or React.
  • Experience integrating with a variety of on-premises and SaaS-based products.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences and manage customer expectations.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Okta expertise, experience, or certifications (e.g., Certified Technical Architect, Consultant, or Developer).
  • Knowledge of software development security and cryptography.
  • Experience with API Gateways, CASB, and Reverse Proxies (e.g., NGINX).
  • Knowledge of cloud and virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere, EC2, Xen, KVM, or OpenStack.
  • Proficiency with various open-source software and development tools.
  • Proficiency in languages such as Ruby, Python, or Perl.
  • Proficiency in version control systems like Git and Subversion.
  • Professional certifications such as TOGAF or CISSP.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline is required.
