Senior Software Engineer - Identity Infrastructure

Role Overview

The Active Directory and Okta teams, part of the Enterprise Data Protection (EDP) division, are dedicated to protecting Active Directory and Okta data. Their responsibilities include developing data protection solutions such as backup and restore, and integrating AD/Okta as an Identity Provider into the security platform. Identity protection is a rapidly expanding business area, offering opportunities for innovation and solving complex engineering problems for customers.

In this key position, you will work closely with product and development teams to implement complex, scalable, and fault-tolerant backend solutions. You will be responsible for engaging with customers to understand their POCs and deployments, collaborating with global engineering teams to resolve issues, and driving strategic impact through technical leadership and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Software Development: Enhance current products, support POCs and sales efforts, and provide technical support during US business hours.
• Backend Services: Develop and maintain backend services that integrate with and ingest data from various on-premise data centers and cloud providers.
• Technical Ownership: Take end-to-end responsibility for technical solutions, ensuring system scalability and meeting high customer demands.
• Performance & Innovation: Identify and resolve software stack bottlenecks and continuously drive product innovation.
• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to foster team growth and help individuals become effective coaches.
• Strategic Influence: Contribute to designs and plans beyond a single project, influencing both tactical and strategic directions.
• Process Improvement: Propose and execute technical initiatives to enhance team productivity and operational efficiency.
• Domain Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert to assist the product team with future technology initiatives.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineers, product designers, and stakeholders to address real-world problems and accelerate business growth.
• Customer Engagement: Collaborate directly with customers to assist with product deployment and address technical issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Over 6 years of industry experience with a proven track record of solving complex problems.
• Strong proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Go, Java, C/C++, Scala, or Python.
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Experience in architecting and developing large-scale distributed systems and data storage concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to guide other engineers in the design and implementation of scalable software solutions.
• Experience working directly with customers to resolve technical issues.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and their interaction with Active Directory.
• Strong proficiency in Active Directory or Entra-ID concepts.
• Experience working within the Microsoft Windows ecosystem.
• Solid understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts, with exposure to services like Okta or AWS IAM.
• Familiarity with identity security concepts including users, groups, roles, and Non-Human Identities (NHI).

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $188,500—$282,700 USD. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for:
